The Sound of Cicadas, Touch the Wind

Personal Work

Short Film

Sep 2019

A young man skips class and suddenly lies down on the school landing. The sound of cicadas keeps on chirping. The reality that comes cramming moment by moment, even if you run away from the daily grind — this is a work that literally “screams” the swirling wobble in the mind of a young man who has discord with the environment around him.

A 17-year-old high school sophomore, I drew my own life-size conflicts and impulses with unique expressions using hand-drawn animation, 3DCG, and live action.

It received high praise, such as winning the Grand Prix at the WIRED CREATIVE HACK AWARD 2020, receiving Youth Gold at the 22nd DigiCon6 JAPAN, and being nominated for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2020 U-25 Project. Also, in 2021/2, it was adopted in Apple's PR “From the Other Side of the Mac.”
